I belonged to Vietnamese Navy (Naval Academy Officer Class 16, Nha Trang). One time I wanted badly to command Fast Patrol Boat for Coastal Security Service (So Phong Ve Duyen Hai), my application was denied. However, a few friends from my class had served in CSS:Mr. Chu Van Tien, Vu Ngoc Tho. I am pleasantly surprised to see a son of our Hero had worked to preserve his honor (even though living away from Vietnam) and would not let his Father's heroic past fade away. Hung, please remember to search and do more for our beloved Motherland Vietnam so we can hold our heads up high together with other major powers in the world.

I was proud to have served multiple tours with many South Vietnamese soldiers of similar character as was your father. Your Father and all of his efforts will not be forgotten. He can be most remembered now for the family he raised and you speak well of all his efforts in that department. I am certain that he was as proud in life of your accomplishments and caring as he is now watching over you.

You should feel very good about what it is you have done here both for your father and for yourself. Good luck.

The soldiers of Recon Team 5 - LLDB all, to my knowledge - were the best I ever served with. They would do anything, anytime, anywhere. For your part in this, I thank you Colonel Ngo The Linh. I loved them. Mr. Lewis (one zero), Shining Brass, '65-'66.

Magnificent job you're doing Ngo Xuan Hung. He must have been a wonderful father. At least one book I know of says these soldiers I refer to were Nungs. These histories I see only vaguely resemble what I remember.

If I were asked to do it all over again, I would go right back to SOG. The professionals of SOG made a difference.

You won't find a more courageous group of soldiers anywhere in this world. Only the soldiers of SOG can relate to real pressure under fire. Many didn't make it back alive and all were wounded at least once in our quest to defeat the communist aggressor.

Sir,

I served with the 3rd Combat Security Police Squadron at Bien Hoa, from Nov.'68 to Nov.'69. It was my honor and pleasure to serve my country in fighting the communists for the South Vietnamese people for whom I developed a love.

Perhaps one day the murderous communists in Vietnam will be over thrown and replaced with a leadership elected by the people and who have a true interest in serving those people.

Then, Vietnam can be the great country it was intended to be.

It is only men of this caliber from all countries that will maintain the freedom for all people.

Having served with MAC/SOG in 1963/65 in the begining and again in 1968/69 with men that were willing to give theirs lives was a honor and priviledge that few men will ever experience in their lives.

To Colonel Ngo The Linh and his family,
I say "Thank you for fighting in what you believed in and may he rest in peace".

Now, it is very different, I am in complete admiration knowing what a great man he was. I know that my message is like a drop of water in the ocean, but I assure you that it (my message) is extremely sincere.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all he had done. I would have liked to have had the good fortune to meet him, alas this will remain a marvellous dream in my heart.

I have just visited your web site and salute your father.

I was a US Marine Corps helicopter pilot and flew some missions for MACVSOG into Laos. In recent years I have at last come to know as friends some of the Vietnamese that worked in SOG operations.

In San Jose I have a dear friend, Nguyen An, a pilot for the 219th Squadron, Kingbee and more recently have come to know Kiet Nguyen, the Vietnamese Navy Seal who won the US Navy Cross in the rescue of Bat 21. I am a new member of the Special Operations Association and there have been meeting many other fine Vietnamese patriots. My friend Kiet Nguyen asked me to look at this site and I am very pleased to have learned about your father and the links to other fine Vietnamese sites.

Many years ago, I was a young soldier in ARVN, sent to Camp Yen The for training. Colonel Ngo The Linh instructed his XO at the time to give me a pair of new combat boots after he saw me walk to the mess hall with my only torn canvass boots. Few years later, another encounter with the Colonel in the refugee camp of Fort Chaffee, after a short conversation he gave me two dollars to get a pack of cigarettes.

A pair of shoes, a pack of smokes at the two worst times in my life shows the humane side of Colonel Ngo The Linh
that I found lack in many of high-ranking officers that I have served under. I just wished that we had more leaders like him, things may be different today.

Hi anh Hung

You've put together an extremely nice website for us all to remember the former heroic South Vietnamese Armed Forces Colonel, Mr. Ngo The Linh. I want to thank you for taking the time to create this website.

I'm sure that we all, especially my generation and even the younger generations, would appreciate the opportunity to learn more about the heroic South Vietnamese soldiers -- people like Colonel Ngo The Linh and others like Colonel Ho Ngoc Can, Lt. Colonel Le Anh Tuan (Navy), General Nguyen Khoa Nam, Le Van Hung, Tran Van Hai, Le Nguyen Vy, as well as many others who had given so much of their lives in the fight against North Vietnamese Communist aggression.

Thank you for the great website. With gratefulness. And respectfully,

Pham Cuong Le.
